White House Promotes Equality Abroad

President Barack Obama on Tuesday issued a memorandum that directs all federal agencies overseas to ensure that the United States is promoting and protecting the human rights of lesbian, gay and transgendered people across the globe. 

Obama says that the U.S. must combat the criminalization of LGBT status, protect vulnerable LGBT refugees, make swift responses to LGBT abuse and take other steps.
