Just posted to Sen. Daniel Akaka‘s Twitter account: A link to a New York Times blog post that gives the background on the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom, which occurred 119 years ago on this date. (Read a related DC808 post about the anniversary.)

Akaka is retiring this year, and says he’ll fight to the end of his time in the Senate to secure federal recognition for Native Hawaiians.
