“We cannot take tourism for granted,” Case said.
The key to a vibrant tourism industry in Hawaii is a strong national economy, he said. Case encouraged “more APEC-related meetings” as a way to heighten Hawaii’s focus on business tourism.
He also discussed the importance of making it easier for foreign travelers to obtain visas, one of the issues President Barack Obama outlined in a national tourism initiative announced this week.
