Secretary of State Hillary Clinton released a statement to congratulate Marshall Islands President Christopher Loeak, who was elected Tuesday night. 

“Our strong friendship will continue to deepen as we work together to help all Marshallese realize a better future,” Clinton said. “We look forward to continuing to promote security and prosperity and curb the effects of climate change for the Pacific region.”
