Considering the federal funding is one of two key hurdles remaining for the rail project, today’s news from Washington must make advocates happy.

Federal Transit Administration chief Peter Rogoff told Adrienne LaFrance that the request that the city strengthen its financial plan is just a matter of “paperwork” and that he thinks Honolulu is “going to get there.”

Rogoff met today with Mayor Peter Carlisle and Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation Finance Committee Chair Don Horner.
