City Council member Tulsi Gabbard posted a video message about equal rights to her congressional campaign website this week. Gabbard begins the video by acknowledging that “we may not always agree on everything.”

“I strongly believe that you and your loved ones, your friends and your community deserve the same benefits and rights as everyone else,” Gabbard said.

She goes on to say that she will “fight to ensure that no person ever be treated as a second-class citizen.” While the message appears clearly directed at the LGBT community, Gabbard doesn’t actually say the words “gay” or “lesbian,” for example.

Updated 1/24/12, 11:14 a.m.: Gabbard says her campaign removed the video as part of a relaunch of her website, though other videos remain on her site.
