hawaii-politics:

Several protests have been filed with the Hawaii Republican Party over the selection of Ted Liu as the party’s new national committeeman.

The vote for Liu, a Linda Lingle acolyte, was held Jan. 12 at party headquarters on Kapiolani Boulevard. But it was narrow — 31 to 30 — and some are questioning the use of proxy votes in the final tally.

Liu defeated Willes Lee, a former party chair who has represented the local party nationally.

The Hawaii GOP will send either Liu or Lee, along with national committee person Miriam Hellreich and party chair David Chang, to the national convention Tampa, Fla., in August.
