Abercrombie has gone out of his way — repeatedly — to thank lawmakers for all their work. Sounds like he’s making sure his administration is far more successful than last session in working together with the Legislature.

I am deeply grateful to Speaker Say and President Tsutsui for clearly recognizing and delineating the opportunity to work together on these issues in their respective Opening Day remarks.

Earlier, Abercrombie said he had read their speeches several times and took their messages to heart.

He ends his State of the State by telling how Rep. Karen Awana gave to him encouraging words during a difficult time early in his tenure.
