First Lady Michelle Obama invited a Hawaii-based Army sergeant to sit in a special box of guests who will watch the State of the Union address with her on Tuesday night.

Sgt. Ashleigh Berg, who is originally from Malibu, Calif., is currently assigned to the 94th Army Missile Defense Command at Fort Shafter, according to the White House. She has served two tours of duty in Iraq, and she’s now serving a three-year tour as the commanding general’s executive administrative assistant at Fort Shafter. Her husband, Sgt. Matthew Berg, is in Afghanistan for his third combat tour.

“The guests of the First Lady each have uniquely American stories to tell,” White House spokesman Adam Abrams said in an email sent to DC808. “In many cases, their stories highlight not only the challenges we’ve overcome, but some of the ways in which we can move forward together as a nation and create an America built to last.”

Some of the other guests who the first lady invited to sit with her include astronaut Mark Kelly, who is the husband of outgoing Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who announced over the weekend that she will step down; Warren Buffet‘s secretary; an elementary school teacher from Pennsylvania and others.
