The federal government is giving Hawaii nearly $1.5 million to pay for tsunami-related repairs to Oahu’s Keehi Small Boat Harbor, the state’s congressional delegation announced on Tuesday.

The money comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In a joint statement, Hawaii’s delegates expressed gratitude for the funding, and continued sadness about the loss of life and destruction that the March 2011 tsunami caused in Japan before it hit Hawaii.

The delegation also announced that Hawaii will get $2 million in federal funds to repair a boat dock at the USS Arizona, the site of the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
