Roger Alvarez, a 22-year-old high school dropout wants to get his GED five years after calling it quits and thanks one of the teachers who tried to help him stay in school.
Interesting that by ninth grade, Alvarez felt it was too late to play catch-up with his more studious peers. More evidence that teachers matter just as much in those early years as they do in the later ones.
