honolulu-politics:

Kirk Caldwell is in, and he’s going on the offensive.

The former acting mayor rolled out his campaign for mayor at a Kalihi bus station this morning.

He criticized current Mayor Peter Carlisle for his hands-off style, world traveling and few new initiatives. Caldwell described himself as the “hands-on,” detail-oriented candidate who would solve problems.

Surrounded by his family and about two dozen supporters holding signs, Caldwell said he’s confident he’ll be able to raise enough money — $800,000 to $1.5 million, he estimated — to win the race.

More coming later.
