A selective list of bills and briefings at the state Capitol for Wednesday (Jan. 25):

• House and Senate Education will convene at 2 p.m. in Conference Room 309. The agenda is to hear from the DOE on Race to the Top.

• Two House committees will meet at 2 p.m. in Conference Room 325. The agenda includes a slew of bills related to mortgage foreclosures, and a bill expanding membership on the Public Utilities Commission.

• Senate Public Safety, Government Operations and Military Affairs meets at 2:50 p.m. in Conference Room 224. The agenda includes a measure that would exempt some ground signs from county outdoor advertising regulation, and another that reduces Oahu’s reimbursement to the state of proceeds from the county’s surcharge.
