Every island but Oahu has banned plastic bags. The Honolulu City Council pledged it would line up it’s own bag ban soon, too. Here’s the latest on a state-wide push.

Two bills scheduled before House Energy and Environmental Protection at 10 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 26) in Conference Room concern plastic grocery bags.

They are among a half-dozen or so measures aiming to charge customers a small fee for bags at stores. One measure (though not being heard today) would direct money collected from the bags to state watershed protection.
