Kirk Caldwell formally announced his campaign for mayor this morning at a Kalihi bus station, but he shot this video yesterday in Waipahu, where he was born.
Just in case you forgot Kirk’s a local boy, he holds up his plantation-issued birth certificate and references his “hanabata days.”
“That’s why I’m here today,” he says in the video, which was sent to supporters before he met the media. “Because I want to make sure I’m connected to this place, to the values that I carry with me and to remind me of where I come from, so I don’t forget as I go forward to serve all of you.”
