In addition to his meetings with studio executives and the Federal Transit Administration, Mayor Peter Carlisle spent some of his trip at the U.S. Conference of Mayors

Last week we told you about the initiative from more than 75 mayors pushing for equal marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples. Carlisle’s name wasn’t on that list.

Asked about the initiative at today’s press conference, Carlisle told Inside Honolulu he would discuss that initiative at a later time. After the TV cameras were packed away, he said he’d be able to talk about it on Thursday.

Hawaii recently adopted same-sex civil unions, though full gay marriage is not allowed in the state after a ballot initiative in the 1990s.
