Peter Rogoff of the Federal Transit Administration is meeting privately with Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle, U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told DC808

“Peter Rogoff is meeting with the mayor to determine how things are going,” LaHood said in response to our question about the strength of the Honolulu rail project’s financial plan.

LaHood called Honolulu rail a “very important” and “good” project. Civil Beat caught up with LaHood and Rogoff after their appearance in a transportation seminar at the U.S. Conference of Mayors — which Carlisle is attending — in Washington, D.C.

Check Civil Beat later for more on our conversations with all three officials.

LaHood looks on as Rogoff addresses dozens of mayors attending a transportation seminar at the U.S. Conference of Mayors on Wednesday.
