Michelle Obama and Jill Biden announced on Wednesday an initiative to address health issues that military families face through education, research and clinical care. JABSOM is among schools that is promising to take the following steps, according to the White House:
• Train medical students, physicians, faculty and staff to better diagnose and treat veterans and military families
• Develop new research and clinical trials on PTSD and traumatic brain injury
• Share information and best practices with partnering schools
“I’m inspired to see our nation’s medical schools step up to address this pressing need for our veterans and military families,” the first lady said in a statement.
