Cornell University and the University of Hawaii are seeking six to eight math or science grads with some engineering experience to participate in a Mars-like habitat for four months and figure out what’s best to eat if you really ever do get to Mars.

Read much much more about the study and what they’re looking for here. But basically they’re trying to determine what sorts of foods would work well for those who might spend years on another planet. Lots of physiological and psychological factors involved in figuring this all out. 

And it pays $5,000 for a four-month stint in the “analogue” habitat on the Big Island. Must wear simulated space suits and take Navy showers, however.
