When’s the last time you heard someone in Hawaii pretending to get a call from Barack Obama? According to a Washington Times column by Hawaii resident Danny de Gracia, it’s “not an uncommon sight” to see single men in Hawaii pretending Obama’s on the line to “save them rejection from women.”

Uh, really?

To be fair, DC808 has been far flung from the Islands since Civil Beat opened its Washington Bureau last summer. So we turn to you, dear readers: Has anyone out there seen this so-called trend firsthand?

Check out the other items on de Gracia’s list of how Obama’s presidency has changed Hawaii, including the ubiquity of Obama merchandise and the state health department as a magnet for birthers.
