Hawaii’s U.S. Senate race got a recent mention in The New York Times. The newspaper pointed to the aloha state in an article about the disadvantage that incumbent candidates may face at a time when people are fed up with Congress. 

“Former Gov. Linda Lingle, a Republican, is likely to brand her once-favored challenger, Representative Mazie Hirono, a creature of the hated House,” Jonathan Weisman wrote. 

One political observer argued that incumbent Republicans will have a tougher time than incumbent Democrats. Others blame the media for stirring the pot, and say that people aren’t as fed up with individual representatives as they are with Congress as a whole.
