Gov. Neil Abercrombie is heading to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening. The governor will attend the annual National Governors Association Winter Meeting, according to his office.

Abercrombie is also scheduled to meet with U.S. Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan. Late last year, the federal agency warned Hawaii that it stands to lose $75 million due to “unsatisfactory performance” in implementing Race to the Top education grants.

Abercrombie will stop in Los Angeles to meet with film and television industry representatives, according to a press release.
