Akaka Backs Locklear PACOM Nomination

Sen. Daniel Akaka is supporting Adm. Samuel Locklear III in his nomination to be commander of the U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM), according to the senator’s office.

Akaka met with Locklear on Tuesday, two days ahead of Locklear’s Thursday nomination hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Locklear would replace Adm. Robert Willard as PACOM commander, and would be based at Pearl Harbor.
