After nearly two hours of debate, the Parks and Recreation Committee has approved the bill that would keep commercial concessionaires out of some Windward Oahu beach parks on Sundays.

The bill now heads to the full Honolulu City Council. It was amended on the floor to remove the provision that would have banned film and photography endeavors as well.

Vice Chair Ikaika Anderson introduced the bill and represents the district where the parks in question are located. He said he intends to introduce further amendments when the matter comes before the Council to clarify issues about what constitutes commercial activity.
