Well, that was fast.

Actually, Tom Berg floated a number of proposed changes to the Waianae Sustainable Communities Plan on Wednesday, a day before frustrated community members blasted out information about an “accountability session” tonight.

Berg wrote in a memo to colleagues that his suggested amendments came “In response to our constituents’ concerns about preserving the agricultural and ruralnature of the Wai’anae Coast.”

In the section marked “justification for amendment,” he wrote, in part:

In conclusion, if the light industrial park were approved and included within the Waianae Sustainable Communities Plan, whereby the “purple-spot” were to remain, then government, being the federal, state, or city, would abrogate and shirk its ability to fund improvements sorely needed for the Lualualei Naval Road and place such burden on the petitioner seeking to reclassify the property. This then, would condone, and enable a dereliction of duties by government to actually fix, improve and make whole, the Lualualei Naval Road which needs attention now.
