This speaks to my question last week about whether it’s a good idea to publish incomplete and flawed data on teacher performance.
Turns out, the rankings of 18,000 teachers that New York City released last week have up to a 53-percent margin of error. Atlantic editor Ta-Nehisi Coates had a very human reaction to this:
“There’s also something unsavory releasing admittedly flawed data, and then lecturing the public on its need to exercise caution.”
