Nationally, the month is dedicated to black history month.
But there could be more competition for the shortest month of the year. Some lawmakers are pushing to designate February as “Hawaiian Grown Cacao Month.” (The tree that produces cocoa, or chocolate.)
Lawmakers scheduled a hearing on House Bill 1589 this month.
They also scheduled a hearing on a bill that would designate October, “Kalo Appreciation Month.” Kalo is the Hawaiian word for taro.
