Former Congressman Ed Case tells DC808 that he filed the latest required paperwork for his U.S. Senate campaign on time. Nearly one month after that Jan. 31 deadline, there’s still no sign of Case’s latest campaign finance report to the Federal Election Commission. 

Yet Case provided a copy of the completed report to Civil Beat weeks ago. On Monday, he sent DC808 a copy of the receipt that shows the Jan. 31 postmark: 

It’s a good thing Case has that receipt: On Feb. 16, the FEC sent Case a “failure to file” warning, instructing him to file the report “immediately.” Case said that he has since cleared things up with the FEC — which he says received his report on time but processed it incorrectly. 

Still, a staffer in the FEC information office told DC808 on Monday that there’s no record of the report: “I don’t have any indication that it’s here… Nobody knows where it is.”
