Case had already acknowledged that his fundraising totals would be much lower than fellow Democrat Rep. Mazie Hirono or former Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle, a Republican.
Case’s fourth-quarter take represents about 6 percent of the nearly $1.8 million that Lingle raised in the last three-month period. Case raised 18 percent of the $624,363 that Hirono raised in that time.
Case suggested he raised less because only 2 percent of his donations came from political action committees.
“ Follow (Hirono’s) money when she releases her full end‐of‐year report and the trail will lead straight to lobbyists and other mainland special interests who place their own concerns above the people of Hawaii,” Case said in a statement.
The Case campaign says it spent $101,498 last quarter, and had $283,167 at the start of the year.
