Federal defense budget cuts will hit Hawaii in a big way. In case you missed it this morning, the Navy plans to retire two cruisers at Pearl Harbor, the USS Port Royal (pictured above) and the USS Chosin, over the next two years.

Pacific Business News summarizes the Honolulu Star-Advertiser (subscription required) story and lists some of the biggest changes in store, notably a Navy plan to shift a $200 million ship modernization job from Pearl Harbor’s naval shipyard to San Diego.
