Hawaii’s debate over instructional time in schools resumes today when the House Education Committee takes up a proposal from Chairman Roy Takumi and Vice Chairwoman Della Au Belatti to set four standardized bell schedules for each grade level.
Charter schools and multi-track schools would be exempt from the bell schedules, which would otherwise be implemented in public schools statewide.
The committee will also hold a hearing on a bill that would require the Department of Education to establish a concussion awareness program.
