Payroll and student records may be the casualties of a fire that broke out this morning in a wooden building on the University of Hawaii campus on Lower Campus Road.

I first learned of the fire when I was on the on-ramp to H-1 next to the university. Smoke was pouring over the freeway as motorists slowed to crane their necks and see what was going on.
