Nearly a month after the Jan. 31 Federal Election Commission deadline, former Congressman Ed Case’s year-end campaign finance report is posted on the FEC website. 

Why the long delay? 

“It was my fault totally,” a staffer in the Senate Public Records office told DC808. “It was a processing error. We did receive it on the 31.”

When U.S. Senate candidates file campaign finance reports, they are processed by the Senate Public Records office before they go to the FEC. 

The FEC says it will remove a “failure to file” notice that it sent to Case before the processing error was discovered. Civil Beat already examined a copy of the quarterly report, which Case provided weeks ago. Read a related story, then check out the document itself.
