Graduates from for-profit colleges are employed at a lower rate and earn lower salaries, on average, than their peers who attended nonprofit schools, according to a recent economic study.

For-profit colleges tend to enroll a lot of underserved students, and don’t provide as many remediation opportunities — which help new students catch up in subject areas where they may not be proficient after high school graduation.
