First Wind’s 69 mw Kawailoa wind farm is breaking ground next Friday in a ceremony attended by Lt. Gov. Brian Schatz.
It’s the first wind farm in Hawaii that has been competitively bid. But Civil Beat raised questions recently about whether pricing for the wind farm had been properly vetted by Hawaii’s consumer advocate.
Hawaiian Electric will pay First Wind about the same as what it’s currently paying for oil.
