Hawaiian Electric Co. normally focuses on providing local residents with electricity.

But company employees are throwing their weight behind weeding out invasive species that have made their home at Bellows Beach.

Dozens of volunteers from Hawaiian Electric Company and Marine Corps Base Hawaii will clear out invasive trees and weeds that have overgrown a native garden at the Marine Corps Training Area of Bellows Beach on Saturday, February 18th, from 8:00-11:30 a.m.

The project will involve weeding out invasive vines, trimming trees, clearing debris, and spreading mulch to allow for existing native plants to flourish.
