HECO will pay businesses to turn off their air conditioners, elevators, lights, or any other electricity source they promise to proffer up for the utility’s Fast Demand Response Program

At key times, when demand is high, the utility will send out notifications to shut down the sources. 

The program is designed to allow the utility to accommodate more solar and wind energy on its electricity grids.
