Gotta love skills for life.
A team of students from Iolani High School took home the state title at the 8th annual LifeSmarts, a free consumer education competition for teens in grades 6-12, held Saturday at the Hawaii State Capitol Auditorium. It’s sponsored by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and Hawaii Credit Union League.
Akaula School, Iolani School, Kealakehe High School and Waipahu High School went to battle in the game-show style competition that tested students on their knowledge of personal finance, health and safety, the environment, technology, and consumer rights and responsibilities.
The winners will represent Hawaii in the national competition in Philadelphia in April.
Sounds like fun, so why did so few schools compete?
