Mayoral candidate Ben Cayetano’s decision to cut Civil Beat from his campaign media list and try to get reporter Michael Levine thrown off the race has drawn national attention.

The Poynter Institute, one of the nation’s leading journalism training centers, published an article today about the former governor’s actions and what Civil Beat has been writing about him.

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at the University of Texas at Austin has also posted something on it in its Journalism in the Americas Blog.

What it means to support Civil Beat.

Supporting Civil Beat means you’re investing in a newsroom that can devote months to investigate corruption. It means we can cover vulnerable, overlooked communities because those stories matter. And, it means we serve you. And only you.

Donate today and help sustain the kind of journalism Hawaiʻi cannot afford to lose.
