We check the city’s Docushare website regularly for news about newly introduced bills, resolutions, posted agendas and the occasionally interesting communication sent from one Honolulu Hale denizen to another.

Today, we found the electronic version of a pile of disclosure of interest forms. Thirteen different disclosures were filed by Honolulu City Council member Nestor Garcia recently, on everything from the Waianae Sustainable Communities Plan (up for a final vote today) to property tax changes to low-level political appointments.

Many of the 13 new disclosures were filed because he’s executive director of the Kapolei Chamber of Commerce. After some negative publicity for that $60,000 side job, he’s filed numerous disclosures “out of abundance of caution.”

Other filings mentioned his connections to Dura Construction and the Filipino Community Centerin Waipahu. It seems obvious that some of the potential conflicts he notes are not conflicts at all.
