The Ka’au Crater Boys may have been poking fun when they came up with their song, Opihi Man. But that precious seafood delicacy is increasingly in short supply.

To help the species recover, lawmakers are considering a 5-year moratorium on harvesting

Opihi sells for $13 a pound in great part due to risks pickers take to harvest, KITV reports.

The limpets grow on seaside rocks found only in dangerous splash zones. Pickers have to grab and retreat in between waves.

As the song goes:

Sounds like thunder, gotta head for the high ground

White water coming, no foolin` around

Opihi man in the sun. Opihi man grab your bag and run

Opihi man another swell is coming your way
