Sen. Dan Akaka received a standing ovation after delivering brief remarks Saturday (Feb. 25) in support of Rep. Colleen Hanabusa’s re-election. Akaka spoke at the opening of Hanabusa’s Kalihi campaign headquarters.

“The heart and soul of Hawaii is best represented by Dan Akaka,” said Hanabusa. “He is everything that is good about Hawaii.”

Sen. Dan Inouye was a no-show — “under the weather,” said Hanabusa — but those who turned out included Walter Dods, Ron Menor, Bob Nakata, Ben Villaflor and the candidate’s mother, June, and husband, John Souza.

A blessing for Colleen Hanabusa’s Kalihi campaign headquarters.
