With the city’s Elections Division operating in a “business-as-usual” mode on this, the first day that candidates can pull and file nomination papers, we have our first three potential candidates for county races in 2012.

Drum roll please.

  1. Tom Berg, Council District 1
  2. Alex Santiago, Council District 1
  3. Vaiuli Sua Jr., Council District 9

They’ve pulled nomination papers, and now need 15 signatures apiece before they can file.

Berg, we know, is the incumbent representative of District 1, and Santiago is a former state lawmaker who previously announced he would challenge Berg.

Sua is a new name for Inside Honolulu. A quick Google search reveals that he’s president and CEO of Waipahu-based Millenium Security, Inc. He will apparently seek the seat soon to be vacated by the term-limited Nestor Garcia.
