Department of Education spokeswoman Sandy Goya emailed me Sunday with an update on the investigation of Waipahu High School officials who didn’t call the police when a student accused her track coach of touching her inappropriately. (Read the full story here.)

A review of this case by the state office is underway. Superintendent Matayoshi has expedited an examination of applicable procedures and policies.  

Student safety is paramount. Thus, the department will continue to move forward expeditiously with a focus on improving our system in the best interest of students.
