Republican members of the Senate Budget Committee have a website feature that might make you cringe: An age-based calculator that estimates individuals’ lifetime share of the national debt.

The debt is on track to grow twice as large as the U.S. economy in the next 25 years, according to committee members. As the debt grows, younger Americans face a greater financial burden.

According to the calculator, DC808‘s lifetime share of the national debt exceeds $500,000, whereas a college-aged individual’s share is closer to $1 million.
