Big Island police are reporting that thieves have stolen more than 1,200 pounds of longan fruit from several Kurtistown farms.

The tiny fruit, also known as “dragon eye,” is similar to lychee.

KITV reports that Big Island Police Capt. Samuel Jelsma says the stolen fruit’s total value is about $4,200.
