Rosebella Ellazar-Martinez was issued papers on March 9, so this week’s candidate filing report was the first on which she appeared.
The list of potential candidates for the seat now includes these names:
- Thomas Berg
- Efrain De La Cruz
- Rosebella Ellazar-Martinez
- Melvin Kahele
- James Manaku
- Alexander Santiago
Only two other candidates have pulled papers for the other four Council races combined. That shows just how wide open the District 1 seat is — drawing more interest even than the seats to be vacated by term-limited Romy Cachola and Nestor Garcia.
Berg is the only one of the six to file his completed paperwork — he did that on the first possible day, Feb. 1.
