Senate Commerce and Consumer Protection will meet Friday (March 16) to consider the governor’s nomination of Lorraine Akiba to serve on the Public Utilities Commission.

Akiba, a partner with McCorriston Miller Mukai MacKinnon, was chair of the Democratic Party of Hawaii and former director of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

No doubt senators will be curious to discover what Akiba knows about energy and utilities.
