Thursday is the last day the Senate and House can approve bills for crossover, but most of them will be dealt with today in Third Reading (check out the legislative calendar here). What’s going to make it, so far:
- Hawaii’s charter school law overhaul.
- A bill requiring the Department of Education to establish a performance management system for principals and teachers. It includes changes to tenurerequirements, which are currently collectively bargained.
- A bill to establish an Office of Early Learning/Early Learning Advisory Council.
- Revisions to the University of Hawaii Board of Regents selection process — two separate proposals, one to give voters a chance to amend the constitution, and another to just change statute and give the governor more control over the process.
- A bill requiring the DOE and Hawaii High School Athletic Association to develop a concussion awareness program for public and private schools.
