Gov. Neil Abercrombie showed up in person Monday (March 12) to share his manao on two huge administration initiatives: an undersea cable for electricity transmission, and a settlement with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.

Both measures passed out of double committees and now move to other committees — a victory for the governor.

“Isn’t this fun?” the governor said to Water Land Chair Jerry Chang, who told the governor his committee expected to approve the OHA-Kakaako deal.

The administration and OHA would particularly like to see the settlement bill pass the House unamended so that it could avoid conference committee (and Sen. Clayton Hee) and go straight to the governor for his signature.
